Kidspace opened in 1982 as a for-profit child care center. In 1987 it was converted to a not-for-profit organization with a parent-based board of directors. This system remains today.

Kidspace welcomes all children regardless of their national origin, race, sex, religion, lifestyle or special needs.

Accreditation
Kidspace is a licensed childcare center through the state of Washington.

Kidspace is accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) and has demonstrated substantial compliance with nationally recognized criteria for a high quality early childhood program.
